The Incorporation carries the legacy of Raana Te Iti Walker and Mere Roa Milner — our tūpuna whose connection to this whenua established the foundation for all that Tutumatai Station is today.

All descendants of Raana and Mere Roa are shareholders and eligible for the education grant programme. Their whakapapa is the thread that connects 78 owners across Aotearoa to this land in Tairāwhiti.

Founded

Rotokautuku X1C Incorporation formed

The Incorporation was established under Te Ture Whenua Māori Act to govern and protect the ancestral land at Tutumatai for the benefit of all shareholders and their descendants.

2023

New Committee of Management elected

A new governance era begins with a Committee committed to transparency, accountability, and long-term stewardship of the whenua and the business.

2025

Education Grant Programme launched

The Incorporation formally establishes a grant programme for descendants of Raana and Mere Roa in tertiary education — investing in the next generation.

2025

Farm Environment Plan completed

LandVision Ltd completes a comprehensive Farm Environment Plan — mapping all 1,428 ha and establishing environmental commitments for the next generation.

2026

Digital modernisation underway

Microsoft 365 deployment and this website mark a new era in governance transparency and shareholder communication.

Governance

How we are governed

Rotokautuku X1C Incorporation is governed under Te Ture Whenua Māori Act by an elected Committee of Management accountable to 78 shareholders.

Committee of Management

An elected board of directors responsible for all governance decisions — strategy, finances, operations, and shareholder relations.

78 Shareholders

All descendants of Raana and Mere Roa Walker. Shareholders vote at AGMs, receive annual reports, and are entitled to apply for education grants.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM is held annually and open to all shareholders — the primary forum for reporting on the year's performance and electing directors.

Independent Audit

Financial statements are independently audited by Coates Associates Ltd (Mitchell McFarlane), Gisborne, and presented to shareholders annually.

Farm Management

Day-to-day farming operations are managed by a professional Farm Manager supported by a shepherd, with oversight from the COM.

Te Ture Whenua Māori Act

The Incorporation operates under this Act, which protects Māori land from alienation and ensures it remains in the hands of its owners and descendants.
